Scenes from the countryside around Davao

Probably the best part f the trip were two motor cycle rides that we took the last two days that I was there. These pictures were almost all taken from the back of the motor cycle.

The last day of the trip I took a ride with Charly on the back of a motor cycle with instructions to take us out of the city anywhere that was safe. This picture and the one below were taken from the last point he took us. I pointed across the valley and asked what was planted on the hill side. The driver misunderstood, thinking that I wanted to go over there. He said that we could not go there beause the NPA (the guerilla army) was over there. I thought it was a good time to turn back.

If you go far enough out in the country you will see people hauling their goods on a cart or a sled like he one above pulled by a brahma.

The hill where these boys are playing basketball was the site of a battle between the NPA and the army the week before.

These boys are trying to pick the fruits that you can see hanging of to the left. I don't remember what they were called but the were delicious.
